First Grade Service Projects February As we began Lent, our first graders decided to focus on praying for anyone who is sick. Each week, we will say an entire Rosary as a class for anyone who is not feeling well or in the hospital. In the month of February, our first graders will be making cards to donate to local hospitals and family members who could use some cheering up. Our March service project will tie into our Lenten promises. January For the month of January, our first graders worked together with the St. Ann school community during Catholic Schools Week. We all made Kindness Bags filled with yummy treats and necessary items to make daily life easier. These bags continue to be donated by all students of St. Ann to those in need. December In December, our first graders spent time during our annual Ornament Day making special Christmas ornaments for residents at some of our local retirement communities. They took special interest in making sure that these ornaments were made with love and care. Great job first graders! November In November, our first graders worked together to work on Operation Sandwich! We built over 200 sandwiches and donated them to the Urban Ministry Center of Charlotte. A big thank you to all of our wonderful parents for donating the meat, bread and cheese for this special service opportunity! Our first graders made a big difference in our community! October In October we honored the incredibly brave men and women who serve on our Charlotte Fire Department! On October 30th, our first graders gathered together to say a special Rosary, make cards and put together a Halloween gift basket for the firefighters serving at a station near our school. We are collected snack and candy donations to add to our basket. It was a success! September Our September first grade service project was a success! We made over 60 snack packs to be donated to children in our community. Way to go first graders! Stay tuned for information about our October Service. |
