Welcome to first grade! My name is Mrs. Buckley and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures. I can’t wait to find out ALL about you, but first, I am going to tell you a few things about me.
My family is originally from Alabama, although; I grew up right here in Charlotte! I am the second oldest of four children, who all attended and graduated from both Holy Trinity and Charlotte Catholic. My husband and I just welcomed our little girl, Harper, into the world on June 6th. She has already grown so much and we are loving every minute with her. We also have a eight year old Cocker Spaniel named Lyla. We love taking her with us when we go hiking. I am extremely close to my family and am looking forward to you all meeting them as they love to volunteer throughout the year!
After I graduated from Charlotte Catholic, I moved to Boone, North Carolina where I studied to become an elementary school teacher at Appalachian State University…GO MOUNTAINEERS! After graduating from college, I taught kindergarten in a school right along the Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Boone. It was beautiful! After many long winters in Boone, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to return to Charlotte and teach in the Catholic School system that I grew up in.
This is my seventh year at St. Ann. I feel incredibly blessed to be here and have the opportunity to teach all of you about our Catholic faith. You are truly in a special place, and I cannot tell you enough about the value of a Catholic education. It has made an enormous impact on my own life and I look forward to sharing your first grade year with you!
A Few of My Favorite Things:
Favorite Colors: Pink and green
Favorite Season: Summer & Fall
Favorite Foods: Fried okra and mashed potatoes
Favorite Drinks: Coffee and Dr. Pepper
Favorite Sport: Football
Favorite Animal: Giraffe
Favorite Hobbies: Hiking (I love the outdoors), baking (I have a major “sweet tooth!”), horseback riding
Favorite Music: Country
